I need a soldier.

The year is 2000.
A young & promising new group called Destiny’s Child appears on VH1’s Diva Tribute to Diana Ross.

Later a teenager by the name of Beyonce Knowles tells People...
“when we’re 80, naw,
50 years old I want us to be LEGENDS.

What young B imagined became real a lot sooner than she imagined it would.
How old were you in the year 2000?
What were your biggest hopes for that year?
What were you most afraid of that year?

The last 11 years went by pretty fast don't you think?

The next 11 years will come and go also.

What will you be doing 11 years from now?

Will you be doing better OR worse?
Of course, no one really knows the future  but here's the point.

IT'S BEST TO HAVE A DIRECTION THAT YOU WANT YOUR LIFE TO MOVE IN.
If you don't have a plan for your life, someone else does.

AND YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE IT.

You can't control what others expect.

"Why hasn't Brandon Phillips developed?
minor league baseball.com  Oct 2005

How ya like me now!
What do rappers, athlete’s & other celebrities have in common?

The need to deal with OUTSIZED expectations.

There are a lot of teams with a lot of players in Major League Baseball.

Only a select few are All Stars.

In the most recent All Star game Brandon Phillips was one of them.

Brandon got there by not putting pressure on himself to get there.

A very smart move.
Why is that a smart move?

ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY THINGS YOU CANNOT CONTROL.

The expectations of other people might just be #1 on the list of things you cannot control.

Another major league All Star now with the NY Yankees (A-Rod) had a much different approach to meeting OUTSIZED expectations.

A-Rod admitted in an interview with ESPN that early in his career he turned to performance enhancing drugs because he put too much pressure on himself to perform at a high level.

Not a good game plan.
Here’s today’s winning strategy for no matter where you are in your life.

Raise your personal expectations & then it won’t matter what others think or expect from you.

Don’t focus  on things you cannot control (like what others expect).

Instead focus on doing only your personal best.

Be honest with yourself about yourself while you do.

Lots of pressure is self induced & you don’t have to play that game.

Ask Brandon Phillips…All Star

Grew up and blew up...cause I learned

“Reach your hand up in the air & you can play with the stars, it’s not the hand that you’re dealt, but how you’re playing your cards”
Lyrics from  Ludacris---Grew up a screw up  ft. Young Jeezy

Which do you believe is more important to you in everyday life…

your environment or
your decisions?

Both matter a lot that’s for sure.

But can BAD decisions ruin a GOOD environment?

You know the answer to that.
Of course they can.

Can GOOD decisions help you to overcome a BAD environment.

Ya better believe it.
Life is kind of like a card game from that respect.

Even with a winning hand you can lose…if you don’t play your hand right.

Which of course means that in both card playing and in life…decisions matter…and they matter a lot.

Decisions like calling yourself a “screw up”.

Both Luda & Jeezy came up in life as underdogs.

They use words like grew up a screw up because they rhyme and many people can relate.

But in the game of life…c’mon.
Don’t we have enough people already stuck on screwpid?

Ready to call you all kinds of things that you are not!

Why help them out?

Underdog today

Topcat tomorrow.
Remember it’s not always the hand that you’re  dealt but it is ALWAYS about your decisions about how to play it.

Green does not always mean GO!

“They understand that we’re in the limelight & there are some things that are going to come up to be negative, some positive” ny times dec 09
   D-Wade    NBA's  Miami Heat

Undecided about your career path?

Ever consider Reputation Management?

Or maybe Public Relations?

Maybe you should include it in your plans for the future.

Why?

Your favorite entertainment superstars could sure use your help.

Society likes to build them up…                   and then tear them down.

NBA SuperStar LeBron James went thru a  public and messy break up with his old team.

Maybe you’ve seen his very creative commercial about his DECISION to take his talents to South Beach to join his good friend D-Wade with the Miami Heat.

His P.R. team & business manager have work to do rebuilding his image.

Why don’t you help?

Think about it. Whether it’s Chris Brown, LeBron or Nicki Minaj they’re all only human.

And when they fall off of society’s pedestal, they need someone who has hit the right books and doesn’t care how it looks

BECAUSE IT CAN GET UGLY.

Here’s  today’s winning strategy.
Let others do what they do.

Often critics get emotional about something you are doing because you are doing what’s best for you.
Focus on your future…                                 not your frustrations.

Ya gotta do more than wish on a star!

Some have really, really big goals.

Some don’t.

Some will reach their potential.

Some won’t.

Some people will find success…

and some people won’t.

Some of the reasons for this are very complicated.

And some are not.

(Ya can't fail if you never try!!!)

BiggaFiggaMedia.com is very focused on those striving for success.

Goal # 1 is to create online learning materials that you can relate to.

If you are striving for success but don’t have the role models you need you are in the right place.

If you are striving for success but can’t relate to a lot of other self improvement books or tapes…

1. Boring.
2. Don't care about what you care about.

you are in the right place.

If you are willing to invest a few minutes each day or week to improving the most important thing in the world… YOUR MIND

You are in the right place.

If you could use help with learning how to make better decisions you are in the right place.

Many of the most successful people you know have made lots of wrong decisions on their journey to the top…
and after reaching the top!

But guess what?
To reach the top you simply cannot afford to settle for less just to avoid making a wrong decision.

Alicia Keys...the teenager with BIG dreams.

Ever rushed into an important decision without thinking about how it affects you in the long run?

Lots of people have…
including some very successful people.

Successful people like Alicia Keys.

As a teenager, Alicia was so focused on getting a brand new piano that she signed off on a record deal that was not a good fit for her.

Her focus on her immediate desire caused her to lose focus on the bigger picture.

Since most middle or high schools don't teach decision making it's not unusual.

(How can you succeed?)

When you have an important decision to make you better know the difference between what’s most important to you in the short term and what’s most important to you in the long term.

A teenager with BIG dreams, Alicia was excited about the chance to get a brand new piano.

She got a piano & a bad record deal.

Take a moment.

Put yourself in Alicia’s place.

Do you think about your FUTURE when want something bad TODAY?

If not, understand that it’s perfectly normal to focus on your immediate desires.

When you make a mistake simply correct it & keep on moving thru life.

Just remember…

delayed gratification or impulse control is an important part of achieving success in life.

Eminem is the proof.

“I went away I guess to open up some lanes, but there was no one who even knew I was going thru growing pains, hatred was flowing thru my veins”

                    Eminem

Lyrics : Talking 2 Myself
CD: Recovery

Ever feel like you have hatred flowing thru your veins like Em described?

It’s not hatred flowing thru your veins…

it’s painful memories flowing thru your BRAIN.

HOW OFTEN ARE YOU RE-PLAYING PAINFUL MEMORIES?

Ever pick up a CD that you can’t stand and play it over & over?

NOPE.
Or how about watching a movie that you hate over & over?
NOPE.

So why replay a memory that you dislike over & over?
Why keep replaying something over & over in your mind that you hate?

Trying to figure out why bad things happened to you in the past can take years… OR

you can decide to spend more time on the solutions to your problems and less time blaming & hating others.

“I’m sick of struggling & suffering see, my destinies to rest at ease, till I’m impressed & pleased with my progress, I won’t settle for less than cheese”

Eminem lyrics from: It’s OK
